The Magnets

The Magnets, often described as an a cappella super group, were instrumental  in  revolutionising the British a cappella scene in the 2000s. Taking their inspiration from groups like the Pickets they hauled a cappella into the present day by adding masterful beatboxing and contemporary vocal harmonies to current chart hits to create the barbershop sextet for the modern day.  Going on to secure a record deal with EMI records in 2000, The Magnets went on to record numerous albums as well as touring along side artists including Lisa Stansfield, Bryan Adams and Tom Jones.  In 2016, a few of their original members were leaving the group, so a  remodel was in order and fortunately for me I was selected to be part of the new updated Magnets line up. My time with the Magnets saw me perform all over the world, in sold out, five star reviewed shows, “Audiocity” “Can you feel it” and “Naked 80’s”both  Edinburgh  and Adelaide Fringe festivals, and numerous shows and corporate events in  London as well as world wide including Germany France, Spain,India, Middle East and China. My vocals can be heard on the 2017 Album “Can you feel it”(see below)

on the  road with the magnets

I can certainly say that my passport  was truly busting at the seams when I was part of The Magnets. A main staple of the Edinburgh Fringe, I appeared in “Audiocity” in 2016 and then in 2017 “Can you feel it “and “Naked 80’s” in both  the Edinburgh and Adelaide Festival’s.  No time to stop,  touring continued through to Dubai, India and even making a  detour to  home of the great wall for a  three week tour of China. Back home in the UK, I got a chance to  play on some of the biggest stages in the UK, highlights include opening for the 2017 ARIA Awards  at Leeds Arena and in  The YOUNG VOICES School choir concert series, in 2018 appearing at arenas in Sheffield, Birmingham, Manchester and of course the ultimate music venue the O2 area in London.
